Returning to the Earth.

Handèwa Farms is a passionate, indigenous-led farming collective that seeks to provide organic, healthy food to all. It is the ultimate goal of the collective for future generations to be inspired to connect with the Earth and its natural medicine. As a woman-led collective, many of our members have indigenous ancestry, including Occaneechi-Saponi, Cherokee, Blackfoot, and Lakota tribes.

Who We Are

At Handèwa, we believe that food access is essential, especially with food deserts surrounding the area of our farm. We are a strong team, mainly women-led, and dedicated to our farm. We seek to provide over 6,000 pounds of food for those in our communities, with an emphasis on women and children in North Carolina.

Each member of the carefully selected collective has a personal tie to farming and brings a unique set of talents. As tribal members of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, Lakota Nation & Eastern Cherokee Nation, we must provide for the citizens that live on our native lands and to spread the necessary wealth + health gifted to us through the Earth.
